Award-winning all-female musical comedy duo Sparrow-Folk are Australia’s “sirens of satire.”
Fresh out of the oven and destined to be the next musical comedy sensation, the duo is bringing sexy back to suburban Australia. Celebrating what others wouldn’t dare to reveal in their “over-sharing” style of comedy, the deceivingly sweet pair are jaw-droppingly cheeky.
Touted as the DNA-tested love child of the Doug Anthony Allstars and Madonna wrapped in aprons, Sparrow-Folk broke out on the scene 5 years ago when they took out ABC TV’s Exhumed Competition (ACT). They then crashed into global stardom when their viral satirical video clip about breastfeeding ‘Ruin Your Day’ reached over 1 million views across Vimeo & YouTube. This debut single won them praise across the globe, described by BBC Radio as “brilliant” and featured in the Huffington Post, The Daily Mail and on the Channel 9 Today Show.
Sparrow-Folk’s first show ‘Nested Confessions’ premiered at Adelaide Fringe in 2014 receiving multiple 5-star reviews, including the Adelaide Advertiser, and the Adelaide Theatre Guide. Their follow-up show SuBIRDia performed to sell-out crowds at the Melbourne Comedy, Sydney Comedy, Adelaide Fringe, Canberra Comedy, and Edinburgh Fringe festivals.
Sparrow-Folk has featured at major festivals and events, including packed venues at the National Folk Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, National Labor Women’s Conference, and many other corporate events. They have a regular segment on ABC radio, and have toured NZ and the UK.
With 5 star reviews, a whirlwind of festival invitations and three full length albums, they are two cheeky birds you don’t want to miss.
